Blue, White and Rabbits.

After Christmas my mind quickly drifts to spring: Gardening catalogs, Plant stores, and updating my home decor. Right now local stores such a Home Goods have some amazing finds in my favorite colors, blue and white. I picked up several blue and white things there recently, including this large Chinoiserie Ginger Jar. It was squeezed behind a blue vase on this shelf. See the large one on the bottom left frame? Almost left with it as well!

The clerk said these were new arrivals and I was lucky to pick one up as the community has a few Chinoiserie collectors. Are you familiar with Chinoiserie? In the 17th and 18th century, Chinoiserie was Europe's answer to the overwhelming public interest in Chinese porcelain. Styled with the European touch, it is entirely a European invention and can be found in porcelain, textiles and art. You can read about it's history here. I had the perfect place in mind for the large ginger jar as well as a few things I had found recently on amazon...

I actually prefer the smaller 7 inch boxwood in my kitchen and since seeing how well they are made, plan on purchasing the 11 inch for the dining room.

Rabbits, rabbits! I will keep these on display in my home all spring and summer. The smaller I found last year at Hobby Lobby and they have brought those back and more this year. Watch for when Easter goes on sale as they will be 40% off.

This look came together nicely on an older traditional sideboard in our dining room. It is the room to the right as you pass our entryway table and I like to coordinate the style and color with the entry so transition from entry/hall to dining room feels fluid. The Chinoiserie is a reflection of my love for all things blue and white, and the rabbits reflect my personal style, which loves abit of whimsy.

Do you love Chinoiserie? Do you decorate with blue and white? I would love to about your favorites, too.
